Meet Christina

Christina Flynn, LICSW, Child Mental Health Specialist

Hey there, I’m Christina (she/her) and I work with children, teens, adults, and whole families. I specialize in trauma recovery, building self-esteem, anxiety management, and enhancing healthy child/caregiver relationships. I’ve spent much of my career working with families and helping parents understand what their children and teens are communicating through their actions or behaviors. I believe in the essential human need for connection, using collaborative approaches to solve problems, and that we are forever evolving throughout our lives.

My family has lived in the Portland area for several generations and I have always lived in the Willamette Valley. Growing up in the Pacific NW, I attended the University of Oregon and have witnessed the healing power of nature while working for summer camps and outdoor schools for 10 years.

I earned a Master's in Social Work from Portland State University with a focus on social work in schools, and clinical work with children, youth, and families. While I am trained in Collaborative Problem Solving and Trauma-Focused CBT, I also use techniques from play therapy, narrative therapy, and somatic (body-based) approaches to trauma resolution.

Therapists also need to take care of themselves and being outside in nature helps me refresh and recharge. In my free time, you might find me backpacking or camping with friends and family.

To engage my creative side, I experiment with new vegetarian recipes, sing, play board games, and take pictures of nature for my website. I’m passionate about politics, current events, and social justice. Lastly, I enjoy practicing yoga and meditation to keep myself centered and grounded.

Why Twilight Reflections Counseling?

I chose to name my practice Twilight Reflections Counseling because “Twilight” was my nickname when I worked at outdoor school and summer camps.

In high school, I chose that name because I love the colors of the sky after sunset (I also chose it 5 years before the first books with the same name were published).

Twilight Reflections Counseling honors a major part of my identity and it reminds me of my earlier work with children, youth, and teens.
